2BG’s Automatic module encapsulant system

2BG srl expands its product range with automation of encapsulation module process inside the automatic assembly lines. The new development optimizes the process and improves the product quality thanks to a proven film deposition system that ensures repeatability and accuracy with every product type (EVA, PVB,TPU ....). The system is flexible and includes the handling and the automatic positioning of any type of protective back layer, ie the standard Tedlar sheet or structural glass for BIPV applications.

The efficiency improvement of assembly processes is essential to reduce the production costs while maintaining the high standard quality of products. In fact the manufacturers are in a race to produce low cost PV panels, which is fueling a trend towards fully automatic operation with huge economies of scale. With high volume production the integration and automation of module encapsulant operation is indispensable to control the time cycle, the accuracy and repeatability.

The system combines two automatic processes of layer deposition along the assembly line. The first step concerns the deposition of first encapsulation sheet onto glass which moves towards the layout robot cell where the strings are positioned.

The second step connected with deposition of second encapsulation sheet and the back layer (backsheet or glass) is handled by a special robotized cell extremely flexible and versatile in application of film and protective layers which complete the sandwich before the lamination step.

Particular attention was paid to the film punching and the extraction of terminals through appropriate tools. The change of panel size is completely automated and all replacement operations of raw materials can be performed without process interruption.

The system layout allows easy integration into new production lines or insertion into existing ones, and can be applied to all crystalline module sizes with a cut length tolerance and positioning ± 2mm.

The user friendly interface permits easy change of module format and machine parameters with constant monitoring of production. The high reliability, the fine positioning accuracy and the low maintenance are finally important benefits that increase the performance of equipment.
